3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS
What are SOLIDWORKS Cloud Services and how is my subscription changing?
OVERVIEW
What will change in July 2023?
Dassault Systèmes will release new functionality for SOLIDWORKS users known as SOLIDWORKS Cloud Services. These services empower engineering and design teams to solve modern challenges and minimize mundane tasks by providing tools to improve collaboration, cloud data management and design sharing. From July 2023 all new purchases of SOLIDWORKS CAD will include Cloud Services as part of their subscription, existing licenses will have the option to upgrade for a nominal fee. For more detail about costs and subscription changes view our FAQs below. These new services all work by connecting SOLIDWORKS seamlessly to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, opening the door for you to access even more powerful tools for formal data management, advanced simulation, freeform modelling, marketing and more.NEW SUBSCRIPTION BENEFITS
Take advantage of the latest SOLIDWORKS enhancements
Watch the video below to learn about the brand new options you have available for design sharing, mark-up, CAD intelligent cloud data storage and more!

Share and Markup
Need to share your designs with colleagues, contractors or clients? Now you can do so from directly within SOLIDWORKS. Whoever you're working with can then view the files from any browser, no download or installation required. Better yet they can add markup and comments directly to the shared file, making it easy to keep track of collaboration history.

Store and Revise
Access secure cloud based storage from within the SOLIDWORKS interface with the new tools available as part of SOLIDWORKS Cloud Services. This isn't just Dropbox or Google Drive either, the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform is CAD intelligent so it can understand how files relate and provides tools so that you can easily share, version, revision and review your files. Collaborating with other designers is also streamlined with the ability to lock files your working on, revert to previous versions and provide feedback attached to files.

Manage and Control
If your requirements grow more complex then it is easy to scale up with the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. At any point you can upgrade to gain access to advanced process, project and file management, allowing for better control over your data and workflows. Plan projects, assign tasks, control engineering change, resolve issues and eliminate data silos by managing your CAD data on the 3DEXEPRIENCE Platform.

Updated SOLIDWORKS License and Subscription FAQs
Dassault Systèmes recently announced several changes to the SOLIDWORKS subscription in a recent post on the SOLIDWORKS blog.
View the FAQs below for our summary on the important changes you should be aware of.
As Dassault Systèmes announced in their recent blog, there will be an increase in the cost of subscription for new perpetual licenses and renewed term licenses for SOLIDWORKS Desktop CAD products from July 2023, this coincides with the inclusion of the new SOLIDWORKS Cloud Services with these licenses.
The amount varies between countries and for different license types, so we recommend that you contact your account manager to understand exactly how this will affect you.
This increase secures the continued development of SOLIDWORKS, the excellent new Cloud Services and the industry leading cloud infrastructure that supports these tools.
From July 2023 new perpetual SOLIDWORKS desktop CAD licenses must also be purchased with two years of subscription.
After the initial two year period licenses can be renewed on an annual basis. If you choose not to renew then you will keep access to SOLIDWORKS but you will lose all subscription benefits including SOLIDWORKS Cloud Services, technical support, version and service pack updates and SOLIDWORKS Visualize.
Customers with existing subscriptions of perpetual SOLIDWORKS Desktop CAD products can choose whether or not to upgrade their product subscriptions to include SOLIDWORKS Cloud Services.
SOLIDWORKS Desktop CAD term licenses that are renewed after July 2023 will include SOLIDWORKS Cloud Services and there will be an increase in cost to reflect this.
The amount varies between countries and for different license types, so we recommend that you contact your account manager to understand exactly how this will affect you.

3DEXPERIENCE BENEFITS
What is the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform?
We’ve covered some of the benefits available to SOLIDWORKS users but you may still be wondering, what exactly is 3DEXPERIENCE?
To summarize, the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform is a business wide tool that provides access to Dassault Systèmes huge range of engineering software solutions enabling teams to design, test, manufacture and market their products.
Every program on the platform connects seamlessly and uses the same files, which helps companies improve collaboration between departments, simplifies data management and provides easy access to key information.
As a diverse cloud solution there are a number of key benefits to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform including:
- Huge range of capabilities
- Scalable to your requirements
- Centralised data management "single source of truth"
- No hardware required
- Always up to date
- Accessible Anywhere
- Access on any Device
- Built in Security
- Streamlined cross department collaboration
The 3DEXPERIENCE Platform provides a vast range of capabilities with solutions for virtually every aspect of product development.
Alongside the cloud data storage, design management and collaboration tools we have mentioned, the areas we believe will be most beneficial to existing SOLIDWORKS users include: advanced cloud data management, sub-divisional modelling and digital manufacturing.
The platform is not purchased as a whole. Instead, functionality is broken down into different job roles which can all be licensed separately. This provides affordable and scalable access as you only pay for what you need.
The best start with 3DEXPERIENCE will be through the SOLIDWORKS Cloud Services that will be included as part of new SOLIDWORKS subscriptions from July 2023.
If you're interested in additional functionality and you'd like to get the latest pricing or discuss which roles would be most beneficial for your team then please get in touch.
