Raphael Smith
BMEC Technologies.
Ethical Elegant Engineering
Raphael has an MSc (Med) degree in Biomedical Engineering from UCT, and a BSc (Eng) degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Wits.
He is the managing director of BMEC Technologies, a bespoke engineering consultancy known for complex mechanical, software and mechatronic design and integration. Raphael has been working with SOLIDWORKS since 2012 and has developed a tailored drafting standard which allows BMEC to create the most organic forms using traceability-friendly parametric modelling techniques.

Robert Miller
The Eye Above Anti-poaching Drone Project
Robert was actively involved in the prepress industry for over 30 years, he even co-founded Hamilroad Software, now based in the UK. In his spare time he has focused on biohacking with a particular focus on the role Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) plays in metabolic and cellular health. In 2020 Robert co-authored a peer reviewed hypothesis paper entitled “COVID-19: NAD+ deficiency may predispose the aged, obese and type2 diabetics to mortality through its effect on SIRT1 activity”. 2017 saw him begin work on this project, inspired by his late friend Giacomo Angelini’s love for the bush and the passion that many of the game wardens have for the work they do and their despair due to the difficulties combating rhino poaching. He taught himself Solidworks with the invaluable assistance and support of MECAD Systems and today occupies the position of CEO and Head of UAV Design for The Eye Above Anti-poaching drone project.

Ernie Aylward
Mellowcabs
After 8 years in the renewable energy sector Ernie joined Mellowcabs as lead engineer in 2016. He appreciates the process of taking something from concept to reality and uses SolidWorks whenever he can. Mellowcabs chose MECAD as their preferred CAD supplier 2017 and hasn’t looked back since.
